ZAMBOANGA CITY - Youth Heirs,
Descendants of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo To Hold Unity and
Planning Assembly in Zamboanga City
The youthful heirs and descendants of the Sultanate of Sulu and
North Borneo belonging to its nine heirs and the two royal houses will meet in
Zamboanga City on Saturday, June 13 for their “First Sulu Royal Youth Forum”.

Tanya Rowena T. Kiram said the forum will serve as a venue “to discuss issues
and concerns regarding the significant role of the royal children and their
inevitable participation in building a strong, cohesive, pro-active and united
clans under the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo”.
During the one-day forum to be held in Garden Orchid Hotel, the
young royalties will discuss topics to include the sultanate’s history; their
contemporary situation and roles in society; protection and promotion of their
common heritage; and plans for the holding of the First Grand Royal Peace
Summit in July.
Historians and experts from the academe are also invited to enlighten
the Royal youth to be followed by workshop and interactions.
The forum has for its theme “A United Stand of the Sulu Royal
Youth Towards Achieving a Pro-Active Initiative for Harmonious Team-Building,
Family Unity, Peace Advocacy, Sustainable Development and Collective
Prosperity”.
At the end of the forum, the participants will sign a manifesto of
commitment for a “Unity and Peace Move”, lead convenor Kiram said. The
manifesto will guide and “inspire the royal youth in establishing a truly
conducive, peaceful, progressive, productive and harmonious society within the
royal clans and families and the whole community by harnessing their full
potentials, talents and leadership skills.” The project is sponsored by
the United World Foundation, Philippines, Inc. and the Royal House Kiram
Foundation, Inc. of the sultanate.
The forum also aims to “revisit the historical beginning of the
Sultanate…for a deeper understanding and perspective of their history and
their present situation as well as their future prospect, fate and directions”.
Kiram also said.
